QPS Applus+ holds national accreditations in Canada and the US to certify a wide range of electrical product categories including hazardous location equipment (Ex/Atex).
It is also a Notified Body for assessing the conformity of Ex Equipment to the requirements of the European ATEX Directive.
At the international level, it’s accredited in the IECEE/CB Scheme as a National Certification Body (NCB) and Certification Body Test Laboratory (CBTL).
In the IECEx Scheme, it is recognized as an Approved IECEx Certification Body (ExCB) and a Ex Testing Laboratory (ExTL), two industry schemes with worldwide recognition.
QPS Applus+ services enable its customers to meet national and international regulatory requirements related to electrical safety, energy efficiency, and explosive atmospheres and include:
QPS Applus+ has all the necessary accreditations and recognitions to provide market access for electrical and electronic products in North America. The QPS Applus+ marks and labels can be considered proof of compliance with applicable national standards.
This includes certification of Ex products, as well as compliance with energy efficiency requirements.
QPS Applus+ is a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) by the US Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). It is also accredited as a certification and inspection body under SO/IEC 17065 and ISO/IEC 17020 standards and as an A2LA as a testing laboratory (ISO/IEC 17025).
Our product safety mark provides evidence of product safety compliance with official authorities, local customs, users and suppliers in North America, and is especially recommended for products in series.
Field Certifications determine if a single or a few devices can safely operate in an ordinary or hazardous location. Unlike the Product Safety Mark, the certification service is completed once the device is marked with the QPS Field Certification label.
Our Field Evaluation services help ensure that a new, unique assemblies or custom-built equipment is successfully certified and approved to meet local AHJ (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) requirements to legally access the US and/or Canada, reducing both costs and time to market.
In the US, QPS Applus+ is recognised as a Field Evaluation Body (FEB) in all states and local jurisdictions for Field Evaluation services, according to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and to: NFPA 790 and NFPA 791 standards. It is also accredited by the IAS (International Accreditation Service), A2LA (American Association for Laboratory Accreditation), and OSHA.
In Canada, QPS Applus+ operates as a Field Evaluation Body (FEB) under the International Accreditation Service (IAS).
Before an electrical or electronic product can be introduced to the European market, it must adhere to the relevant regulations outlined in EU directives.
QPS Applus+ is a notified body for the ATEX Directive, an EU initiative that governs all the products, processes and environments that are to be used in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres.
Its notified body services can be provided from North America (NB 2900) and Europe (NB 2876) at the convenience of the client’s location and market needs.
Applus+ Laboratories is also a notified body for other CE Marking directives and regulations that could be applicable to electrical and electronic products for EMC, Radio Equipment, Construction products and others.
QPS Applus+ is accredited to test and certify a wide range of electrical and electronic products to applicable IEC standards, including household appliances, IT equipment, audio/video products, process control equipment, and electro-medical devices and systems. The IECEE/CB Scheme is recognized by more than 50 countries, facilitating electrical safety compliance and market access.
When it comes to Ex products and personnel, Applus+ QPS is accredited to test and certify them according to the IECEx Scheme.
