Ensure regulatory compliance for your electrical & electronic products to access the UK market, including those intended for explosives atmospheres
The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) is a new product marking to demonstrate conformity with UK Regulations. Goods that pass their relevant conformity assessments will be affixed with the UKCA mark, which allows them to be sold in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). For Northern Ireland, there’s the UKNI mark, for which the process is different.
The new UKCA mark covers most goods that previously needed CE marking. In fact, ‘UKCA’ came into effect on January 1st 2021 and expected to become mandatory on January 1st, 2023. But the Department for Business and Trade has indefinitely extended the deadline and will accept CE marking until further notice.
In terms of conformity assessment, the UKCA scheme follows a similar framework to the CE, replacing the EU Notified Bodies for UK Approved Bodies.
Applus+ Laboratories is a UK Approved Body, number 8508 (3C Test Ltd), for the following regulations:
As such, we can evaluate and certify the equipment intended for the British market (England, Wales and Scotland), and provide the UKCA mark. We are also a Notified Body for the CE/UKNI mark for Northern Ireland.
Even in areas where the conformity assessment scheme mandates self-certification by the manufacturer, like Electrical Safety, having a trustable Certificate of Conformity (CoC) provides an extra layer of confidence in your product.
Capitalizing on our expertise in the field, we can provide an Electrical Safety CoC for the UK market to ensure your products compliance with the 2016 Electrical Equipment Safety Regulations. For this, we count on our own network of safety labs across Europe and North America.
