The commercialization of telecom and radio equipment in Malaysia consist of the MCMC SIRIM QAS Approval Process.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is a regulatory body in charge of the regulation of the communications and multimedia industry of Malaysia.
SIRIM QAS International is a registered Certifying Agency (CA) by the MCMC. It provides Compliance Approval based on Product Certification Systems.
Type Approval for Radio Communication Products that are intended to be marketed in Malaysia is based on Compliance Approval provided by SIRIM QAS International, which is a Certifying Agency registered by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Telecommunication and radio frequency transmitter products that make use of the radio spectrum or connect to the public network and are intended to be marketed in Malaysia are subject to a mandatory approval process issued by SIRIM QAS.
In order to obtain Compliance Approval Certification in Malaysia, the application must be performed by a Malaysian registered company with a valid registration number under Registration of Company (ROC) or Registration of Business (ROB) of the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM). The Compliance Approval Certificate has a 5-year validity period.
The MCMC SIRIMA QAS Certification Mark must be legible and visible. The size of the Compliance Mark may be reduced or enlarged proportionately as required but must be no smaller than 8 millimetres in height by 8 millimetres in width (8mm x 8mm).
The Certificate Holder must use either one of the optional colours (black, reverse white or grey) for the Certification Mark, as long as it is visible either by contrast with the background colour or the marking in relief. When affixing the Certificate Holder unique ID or Common ID for Principal/manufacturer, the font must be visible.
The Certificate Holder must print the Compliance Mark on a white background. In those cases where the base that the label needs to be affixed to may risk the visibility of the label, a reverse white or 30% black version may be used.
