Meet the safety requirements applicable to industrial machinery to access the European Union market
To access the European market, industrial machinery must guarantee the safety requirements defined in Directive 2006/42/EC. Manufacturers must integrate these requirements into the equipment's design and manufacturing phases, as well as when defining the machine's installation and maintenance procedures.
The directive divides machines into two types and describes the certification procedures according to each equipment's hazard levels. For machines classified as "dangerous" (Annex IV), the conformity evaluation process entails the involvement of a notified body. For "less dangerous" machines, the manufacturer or its representative in the EU will be responsible for conducting the necessary tests and issuing a declaration of conformity under their responsibility.
