Articles 10.e and 15.f of the Real Decreto 513/2017 (Royal Decree 513/2017) establish that in order to be able to function correctly as an installation or maintenance company for PCI systems, organisations must have their quality management system certified by an accredited certification body. The scope of this certification must explicitly include the design—if applicable—and installation and/or maintenance of each and every one of the systems or devices for which the qualification is requested.
To date, ISO 9001 certificates have been an accepted proof of compliance with the aforementioned articles, but this is soon to change. The Unidad de Mercado (Market Unit) working group created within the Conferencia Sectorial de Industria y PYME del Ministerio de Industria Comercio y Turismo (Sectoral Conference on Industry and SMEs of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism) has positively assessed a series of additional requirements which certification bodies must meet in order for their issued certificated to comply with the aforementioned articles and, therefore, be accepted by the proper authorities.
Applus+ Certification is on the road to accreditation with respect to the new requirements, in order to be able to certify companies who install and maintain PCI systems and make sure those certificates are accepted by the authorities and comply with the new legal requirements.
