Talks abstracts:
Embracing IoT connectivity: first considerations for choosing the proper technology and provider.
IoT is growing rapidly, and many new applications are targeting consumers while others support enterprises in improving productivity by increasing efficiency and optimizing maintenance and logistics. However, a wide range of IoT connectivity technologies exist, providers are extending their coverage and making available several solutions, usually fitted for selected verticals and use cases. An overview of available IoT connectivity technologies, including LPWAN, is presented, and a comparison among them is also provided considering the final intended application.
Cybersecurity, the Elephant in the IoT Room: Upcoming regulations and security for IoT and IIoT
Almost nobody was worried about security on IoT and IIoT in the past years. This has started to change specially since 2017. Many governments and organization are willing to improve the security of the IoT ecosystem, the main reason is because vulnerabilities in IoT are real. Also some companies have lost reputation because of the lack of security of some of their solutions. Different organizations like ENISA or OWASP have created security guidelines that developers can use when designing their IoT solutions.
Automated interoperability testing for IoT devices with NFC
The IoT devices are going to connect to millions of devices trough cloud technologies. However, they interact with the devices close to them using technologies like NFC. The NFC technology is present in our day-to-day, from the contactless payment to the washing machine. The interoperability testing ensures a successful user experiences for IoT using NFC technology.
Applus+ Services for Trusted and Reliable IoT Solutions: the Applus+ “IoT Certified” Quality Scheme.
The tremendous rise of IoT adoptions by a very wide range of industry and consumers sectors is bringing to an incredible rapid market availability of thousands of IoT solutions. In most of cases, reliability and quality figures of such products are poor, also because the adoption of an inappropriate IoT technology for the proposed use and, especially, due to a lack of IoT-dedicated Quality Scheme. To overcome all these drawbacks, the new Applus+ mark “IoT Certified” provides a scheme to certify IoT solutions considering intended use and vertical application, guaranteeing to market reliable, trusted and quality IoT products and devices.
SMART LOGISTICS & INDUSTRY 4.0 CASE STUDIES
Innovation and new technologies for challenges in logistics, by Plain Concepts
The Impact of augmented reality and machine learning in logistics: Applying new technologies to aid cost reduction and increased efficiency in warehouse processes. Review of real cases & demo (Hololens - Micrsoft).
Leading the Industry 4.0 Wave with a New Value Proposition: Private Platforms, by Nexiona
Industrial property and Intellectual property behind the industrial processes must be secured by all means. Sending critical data to somebody else's platforms is not an option for many industrial customers. Ownership of Data and Platform is becoming a key benefit for many industrial IoT users. NEXIONA will share its experience delivering Private IoT Platforms to some of the largest industrial customers in the world as Celsa Group, AKO or Gestamp.
SMART METERING & MONITORING CASE STUDIES
Smart metering, a success case for utilities, by Wattabit
Smart metering is a necessary and key element for realizing the energy transition. Consumers, utilities and the rest of the energy market stakeholders are aware that the present and future of the energy sector is completely linked to the availability of energy use data. Looking around, we can find plenty of examples from different sectors where smart metering was successfully introduced. In this session, a success case of smart metering applied in utilities will be introduced, exploring the main aspects and the value chain details of the project.
Asset & Production Advisor, ThingWorx Apps to apply Smart Metering/Monitoring in your production lines, by Integral PLM - PTC
Nowadays IoT technologies allow us, on-demand & time-real, to know how our machines are performing on the field. This facilitates us to (a) understand which behaviour is applied by our customers and (b) double-check if they are working as expected in our simulations. All this new approach bring OEMs to a collection of opportunities to deliver new extended services
