Applus+ Laboratories celebrates 25 years since issuing its first certificate

Applus+ Laboratories' product certification area currently has more than 5,000 active product certificates.  But all of these great milestones are backed up by a humble beginning. In fact, 25 years ago on a day like today, we issued our first A+ quality mark certificate, based on a factory audit and product testing. Since then, the A+ quality mark offers additional guarantees that go beyond the mandatory market entry requirements. 

The certificate was issued by Eulàlia Cirici, our current technical director, and at the time, our only professional in the certification area.

This achievement positioned us as a high-valued industry forerunner, since CE Marking had not yet come into force as a requisite for product market access. In 25 years, our product certification services and brand reputation have grown steadily. Our team is composed of more than 250 professionals with a strong international reach and presence. 

There are important milestones that have significantly contributed to our progress and strong presence so far. For example, extending our conformity certification services to other countries thanks to our headquarters in China. Also, the recent acquisition of QPS, a North American company which allowed us to expand our certification services for electrical and electronic products in that area.  

Today, we provide the following  certifications to meet the market needs of key market players in diverse industries: 

• CE Marking: To market products in the European Union, manufacturers and suppliers must meet technical and safety criteria established in diverse European regulations and directives. We are a Notified Body for 14 European directives, and can certify, from construction products (EU Regulation 305/2011) to radio equipment (Directive 2014/53/EU). 
• Applus+ quality mark for products: Applus+ has certified thousands of products in various sectors, from building materials and commodities to IoT solutions and consumer products. We are a proven quality brand recognized in more than 65 countries. 
• Applus+ Fire Safety Certification Mark (Middle East): We have more than 1,000 active Applus+ Fire Safety certificates in the Middle East. This quality seal gives manufacturers access to numerous markets as a quality mark to highlight their certified products to customers and authorities. 
• Electrical products, ATEX and radio equipment:  We cerify electrical safety compliance for market access in Canada and the US, as well as under the IECEE CB Scheme for global market access. This includes compliance for product use in explosive atmospheres for the EU, North America and under the IECEx Scheme for global reach. We also provide Radio-type approval certification worldwide, including the US, Canada, UK and Japan. One of our most valued industry assets is the GMA+ dedicated platform for global market access services.
