Our lab in Dresden has already started conducting combined vibration and environmental tests for EDU manufacturers and OEMs.
Applus+ Laboratories continues to invest in expanding its testing capabilities to support the automotive industry in its electrification. We have recently expanded the capabilities of our laboratory in Dresden, Germany, to provide vibration tests combined with climatic conditioning for companies involved in Electric Drive Unit (EDU) development.
This expansion has been made possible thanks to recent investments in our laboratory with new test equipment that combines powerful shakers (up to 80 kN) with climatic chambers, and auxiliary equipment like chillers, HV power supplies and CAN/ETAS protocol communication licences.
During these tests, the EDU is subjected to vibration loads in the form of shocks, random and sinusoidal vibrations in combination with harsh environmental conditions and electrical loads to which it will actually be exposed during its service life. Between the tests, extensive parameter tests consisting of leakage tests, electrical tests, NDT and detailed evaluation of all relevant CAN protocols are carried out.
The addition of these new capabilities complements our existing ability to conduct EMC and electrical testing on EDUs in dynamic mode.
To achieve this, we developed a fully shielded portable dynamometer of 140 kW. This test bench simulates the correct speed and torque applied to EDUs in accordance with the vehicle's characteristics.
Our mobile dyno is capable of testing in full compliance with CISPR 25 Class 5, and once inside the chamber, it can rotate 360 degrees, moving the EDU to the optimal positions for testing in accordance with radiated emissions and immunity standards. The same dyno can also be used to conduct electrical tests outside the EMC chamber.
We provide a wide range of EMC, environmental, and vibration testing services for EVs, batteries, EDUs, high-voltage and low-voltage components across Europe, China, and the USA.
