Applus+ launches a new voluntary mark for the certification of fire-safety features
Applus+ has developed a new voluntary mark for passive fire-protection products. The Applus+ Fire Safety mark is based on the strictest European certification models. It combines regulatory testing to international standards – both European and American – with ongoing factory inspections.
Its aim is to ensure that product quality and features that have undergone laboratory testing are maintained over time. Certification will come up for renewal on an annual basis and will give manufacturers the right to use the Applus+ quality mark on their products.
Manufacturers who have already had products tested or certified in an Applus+ laboratory and who wish to begin using this new mark must simply pass an annual inspection of their production facilities.
A seal of quality
Products bearing the Applus+ Fire Safety mark will carry a seal of quality that enables both customers and regulatory bodies to differentiate them from other, similar products. This certification is backed up by the Applus+ brand. Applus+ is globally recognised as providing a benchmark for
fire laboratories thanks to its more than 30 years of experience assessing products against international standards.
Global market access
One of the key challenges for manufacturers wanting to gain access to a variety of global markets is the highly disparate nature of their entry requirements. However, thanks to the recognitions and approvals that Applus+ has received from a range of regulatory bodies, industry organisations and international laboratories, the Applus+ Fire Safety mark will help open the door to markets such as the Middle East and Latin America.
For manufacturers marketing their products in Europe, Applus+ can offer combined CE Marking and Applus+ Fire Safety certification and surveillance.
A guarantee for customers, opinion leaders and regulators
The new quality mark will also provide all industry players with a clear and straightforward means of identifying those certified products that come with an added assurance of quality. Customers, end users, opinion leaders, regulatory bodies and public agencies will all have access to an online database in which they can search for certificates and check their validity.
