Applus+ acquires Tunnel Safety Testing (TST), specialists in fire tests in tunnels

    With this acquisition, Applus+ strengthens its leading position in the field of fire-safety product testing. TST has the biggest testing tunnel in Europe, enabling it to conduct full-scale fire tests
    Applus+, a global testing, inspection and certification company, widens its fire-testing portfolio with the acquisition of Tunnel Safety Testing (TST), based in Asturias (Spain). TST will join the Laboratories Division, expanding the Applus+ network of test facilities. 
    TST boasts the only facilities of their kind in Europe. The company has a 600m-long testing tunnel, the biggest in Europe; a laboratory for testing large-scale fans; and a training centre for fire and rescue teams. The TST team has more than 10 years’ experience and extensive technical expertise in conducting full-scale fire tests in tunnels. 
    The Applus+ fire laboratory provides global testing and certification services to the construction, naval, rail and automotive industries and is well established in Southern Europe and the Middle East. 
    As Jordi Brufau, Executive Vice President of the Laboratories Division, explains, “the combined capacities of Applus+ and TST will enable us to offer highly differentiated services, full-scale testing, laboratory testing and product-certification services to manufacturers of fire-protection systems”.
