Madrid, September 30th 2020 - Applus+, one of the global leaders in testing, inspection and certification, has acquired the entire share capital of Reliable Analysis (RA) from the founding family for c.€67 million.
Reliable Analysis is a laboratory-based materials, component, electrical and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing company with a strong presence in China and the United States. Reliable Analysis will become part of the Laboratories division, significantly increasing its scope as service provider for the EV industry, as it will open the door to China, the largest EV market in the world, expected to grow at a fast pace over the next years.
RA has over 300 employees worldwide and primarily serves the automotive industry from China and the US. It is highly regarded for its cutting-edge EMC testing of electric vehicle powertrains and other components from the global auto manufacturers. Its revenue in 2019 was over €24 million. Over the last few years, the company has grown organically at a double-digit rate, partly due to increased spending of the automotive sector in more intelligent and complex electric vehicles.
Applus+ Laboratories, present in 11 countries across Europe, Asia and North America, is a global leader in the provision of testing, certification and engineering services to improve product competitiveness and promote innovation in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, electronics, information technology and construction.
Jordi Brufau, Executive Vice President of the Laboratories Division, said about the acquisition of RA: “This gives us an immediate meaningful presence in the Chinese and North American automotive industry. Combining this with our leading position in the EMC testing European market, we’ve become a global reference in the research and development of cleaner transportation.”
Fernando Basabe, Chief Executive Officer of the Applus+ Group, said: “This investment is aligned with our growth strategy to acquire companies with a strong fit, good growth prospects and profit margins, to increase the weight of the Laboratories Division within the Group.”
Alec Lang, Chief Executive Officer of Reliable Analysis, said: “I am proud of what we have achieved over the last 30 years since we started this business. We have become a leading provider in this market thanks to our dedicated workforce, loyal customers and focus on innovation and investment. By joining forces with Applus+, we will begin a new chapter of growth in this exciting and rapidly developing field.”
