Applus+ Laboratories gets accreditation to certify power generation equipment and facilities according to the NTS, the Spanish grid code

27/11/2024

The scope of the accreditation, which covers both peninsular and non-peninsular systems, includes the certification of wind generation plants, solar plants, and a wide variety of products and components - from wind turbines to inverters & storage systems.

European grid codes are nationwide regulations that affect all generating facilities, their generating units (DGUs) and auxilliary equipment (CAMGEs) connected to the national grid. In Spain these grid codes are contained in the “Technical Standards for the Supervision of the Conformity of Electricity Generation Modules according to EU Regulation 2016/631” and the “Technical Standard for the Supervision of the Conformity of Electricity Generation Modules according to P.O.12.2 SENP”.

The grid codes define the requirements that electricity generation facilities and their components must meet in order to be able to safely inject energy into the Spanish electricity grid and guarantee the quality of supply, and their regulation functions in the event of grid incidents or failures.

As a certification body accredited under ISO 17065, Applus+ Laboratories will be able to certify wind generation plants, photovoltaic generation plants, solar inverters, storage converters, STATCOM and PPCs.

This accreditation consolidates Applus+ Laboratories in the renewables and power electronics sector, and is part of an investment plan to support manufacturers involved in the electrification of industry and transport.
